150 manufacturers of food and non-food products from 20 countries will take part at the International Private Label Show (IPLS) which is the unique exhibition solely dedicated to the private label market allowing store brand managers to choose among the variety of cost-saving technologies in one place to create outstanding consumer-oriented products. The show is taking place on 5-6 April 2017 on one of the largest and modern fairgrounds in the world - Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, Moscow.
The participants will demonstrate their manufacturing facilities to produce private labels for food & non-food retail and wholesale companies, as well as branded attributes and merchandise for HoReCa and airlines, and negotiate this specific type of business without being distracted by other issues, such as own brand promotion. The faire serves as the meeting hub for CIS retailers, HoReCa, distributors, exporters and importers, manufacturers owning brands with outsourced production (brand-owners), contract manufacturers, and all those who interested in creating their own private label.
Being the first and the only private label exhibition in Russia & CIS, IPLS was launched 3 years ago when private labels were a little-known concept on the market, and made a significant impact on its development providing an effective platform for all trade operators to search reliable contract manufacturing partners among the world’s best ones and all those who contribute to the creation of additional values for store brands: branding agencies, logistics, certification, packaging companies, etc.
At the 4th International Private Label Show we will see the results of a rapid market development: the event’s business programme becomes more comprehensive than ever, new companies and products turn up each year. The very concept of private labels is extremely popular in times of falling incomes and the consumer trend to save up not compromising the quality. According to a recent Nielsen report, a private label value share has increased from 3.5% in 2013 to 5% of total FMCG-revenues in 2016. A rapid growth of store brands was accelerated by the expansion of a discounter format and the retailers’ continuous efforts to provide consumers with more affordable alternatives to manufacturers’ brands. Experts believe that private label segment’s growth will be a double-digit figure till the end of 2018, and the share of such brands in Russia and CIS countries will increase to the worlds’ average of 18%.
Traditionally, IPLS is represented by food manufacturers of groceries, confectionery, snacks, sauces & condiments, fat and dairy products, meat, fish, cans and delicatessens, and nonfood manufacturers of napkins and paper products, household chemicals, personal hygiene and cosmetic products, toys, pet goods, household goods, accessories, textiles, etc. In 2017, the new sector will be formed by manufacturers of natural, organic products, and superfoods which have become so popular on the market.
We may safely say that at the exhibition both multi-format and specialized chains will find worthy items to complement the portfolio with items beneficial to the consumer, and emphasize the uniqueness and advantages of store brands. The sector of service providers, among which are brand agencies, packaging and labelling suppliers, will help retailers to create and promote store brands customized to the needs of consumers.
Being the central private label platform of the year with a plenty of opportunities for networking, the show keeps astonishing its attendees by including new events in its program. One of such breakthrough points is the Retail Connect Summit which combines an online matchmaking platform, on site face-to-face meetings with private label purchasers, and a conference with renowned experts dedicated to the private label market to provide an essential market knowledge base.
The integral part of the show is an exposition of private labels existing on the market within the special area called Private Label Gallery formed by 40 largest retail chains of different segments with the largest portfolios of own brands.
IPLS annually gives recognition to the leaders of the private label industry who will be awarded with prizes and quality signs during the Private Label Awards ceremony, established to encourage the achievements of both retailers and manufacturers in creation of the high quality and affordable private label products for the wellness of final consumers.
All events within the show receive positive feedback. In 2016, 80% of visitors intend to come back next year. As the main reason Nadezhda Protasovskaya, the head of private label department at NTS group (incl. 11 retail chains), quotes the quality of people that gather, “There are only wanted private label suppliers, it’s easy to make a number of deals (it’s a serious work!) in just 2 business days, at the same time we benefit from a relaxing business atmosphere out-of-office.”
The next IPLS will take place on 5-6 April 2017 in Crocus Expo, Moscow. It is traditionally held under the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Association of Retail Companies (AKORT), National Association of Trade Chains (NAST), Russian Food Product Union, Federal Purchasing Alliance (FZS), Consumer cooperative (ROST), Perfumery and Cosmetics Association of Russia (PCAR), Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT), etc.
